Tinuy-an Falls
Summer is fast approaching! Got any summer plans? In that case, I have the perfect vacation spot just for you!

Tinuy-an Falls, located at Barangay Burboanan, Bislig, Davao del Sur, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Philippines. This multi-tiered waterfall is known as the widest waterfall in the country, thus earning its rightful name as the "Little Niagara Falls" of the Philippines.
According to Wikipedia, the name Tinuy-an came from the word Tinuyo-an, a Cebuano word that means "intentional act or peformance to attain an objective or goal." In fact, there are legends about this captivating tourist attraction and one of these is the story of the slaves living on the Magdiwata Mountain. One of the legends says that there were people who used to live on the Magdiwata Mountain and were unfortunately forced by tribesmen from Agusan to slavery. These people abused them and eventually, the slaves grew tired of it. While they were rowing the gakit, a raft made out of bamboo, the slaves jumped into the water, pushed the raft towards the waterfalls and kill their masters in order to obtain their freedom. Considering that the act of killing their masters were planned or intended, hence, the name of the waterfalls.

Years passed and the beauty of Tinuy-an was preserved by its locals. They also added features to the area. A rift made of bamboo can be used by the guests in order to go closer to the water curtains and get a "water massage". Cottages are also provided, but staying overnight is prohibited. The pathway leading to the waterfalls used to be rocky and slippery, but after a quick renovation back in 2009, tourists can now safely go to the falls safely and video bloggers can even safely film around the area.
Personally, I've been here when I was a kid. I was mesmerized by the place's quiet scenery, the calmness of the waters, the ambience that makes me comfortable and relaxed. Going here made my summer the best summer vacation that I've ever experienced in my whole life.
So, have fun and go visit Tinuy-an Falls!
